Blue Heaven

Sometimes materials direct a work along with improvisation and chance. The spaces between the pins suspending the rubber bands, are measured by the width of my hand creating a slightly irregular grid. I was interested in how gravity played with the very regular loops of the industrial rubber bands. The rubber bands are heavy enough to maintain a certain integrity and grouping them together recalls a very organic process of cluster formation set against the structure of the grid.

Rubber bands, pins, 75 x42”x 15”, Banff, 2014.
